Dates

The meeting will begin on Sunday, June 22, 2008 with registration in early afternoon; the opening ceremony will start at 18:30 PM followed by the welcome reception. The meeting will conclude with the gala dinner (Greek party) on Thursday, June 25, 2008.  On June 26th a post-meeting tour to Ancient Olympia will be arranged.

Conference Venue

The 9th International Conference on “Angiogenesis: Basic Science and Clinical Developments” will take place at the Conference and Cultural Center of the University of Patras in Greece.

signatureThe venue is located in the University Campus. It offers facilities for conferences, symposia and seminars as well as concerts, theater and dance performances and other cultural events. Wireless Internet connection and other facilities are available.

Language

The official language of the meeting is English.

Travel information

 

How to reach Patras

By air
Patras is connected by air mainly through the Eleftherios Venizelos international airport of Athens. From April to end-October, charter flights departing from certain European cities arrive in Araxos airport, located about 30 km west of Patras. For information, please contact the Olympic Airways offices in Patras at 8 Aratou street / Tel: +30 2610 222901 (-2, -3).

By car
If you decide to drive from Athens to Patras (220 km) please follow the Attica Express Highway (Attiki Odos) from Eleftherios Venizelos airport to Elefsina and continue on the national highway (toll road) guided by the signs. Just after you pass Patras tollgates turn to your right and follow the signs to Agios Vassilios, Rion and Nosokomio (University Hospital). Go about 300 m and where the road splits - under the highway bridge - bear left, then, turn to your right. Go about 300 m to reach the University Hospital - Entrance of the University Campus on your left (see map).

By ship
Patras is the western gate of Greece to Italy and Western Europe. More than 50 ship-services weekly connect Patras with the Ionian Islands and major Italian ports (Ancona, Brindisi, Bari, Venice and Trieste). Port authority / Tel: +30 2610 341002 and +30 2610 341024.

By train
Daily bus services connect Patras to Athens and other major cities of the Peloponnesus. Trains run every 1-2 hour from the central railway station of Athens to Patras. The central railway station of Athens is connected directly to Eleftherios Venizelos international airport of Athens through local train lines. The trip from Athens to Patras takes about 3 hours by the intercity express train. The railway station (OSE) is located in Patras city centre, near the harbor and the bus station / Tel: +30 2610 639108.

By bus
Patras is connected to Athens via daily bus services that run every 30 min. Express buses run every 30 min (the bus station is called KTEL Peloponnisou and is located in Kifissos area). Passengers should take bus No. 53 - departing right at the airport's main exit - to the end stop at the central bus station, from where buses depart to Patras (price of one way ticket: 15 €); the trip lasts approximately 3 hours or 2½ hours by express bus.  In addition, daily bus services connect Athens to all major cities of Greece, the Ionian Islands and all major archaeological sites including Olympia, Delphi, Nauplion, Mycenae and Epidaurus.In Patras, the bus station (KTEL Patron) is located in the city centre, 2 Zaimi and Othonos Amalias street / Tel: +30 2610 623886 (-8). From Patras port, bus or railway station, taxi is the most convenient way to reach the conference venue located in the University campus or hotels in Rion at a cost of 4-6 €.

Currency
Greece is a full member of the European Union and its currency is the euro (€). All prices here given in €.

Electric Current 
The standard voltage in Greece is 230 V AC (50Hz). Appliances from North America require a transformer and those from the UK require an adaptor.

Time 
Greek time is GMT +2 hours

Health regulations
No immunization vaccinations are required for visitors traveling from the USA, Canada and other countries.
